It involves the placement of extremely fine, sterile needles into specific acupoints along the channels of the body to stimulate the release of the body’s own natural pain killers. Experts at musculoskeletal examination and treatment, our Physiotherapy team uses a wide variety of treatment techniques including manual therapy, exercise, movement training, education, and lifestyle interventions. Physiotherapy services at Tall Tree are based on a philosophy of Evidence-Based Practice, which means that our Registered Physiotherapists spend a great deal of time staying current with new research and new treatment paradigms. To this end, you can expect to receive a treatment founded on 100% current best practices. You won’t be left to "cook" on a tingling machine here (the research just doesn’t support it). Instead, you’ll get a custom tailored treatment program based on a thorough assessment, a medical screen, your goals, and the latest research and literature.

Clinical Counselling - Youth (Age 13 - 18)

Dr. Octavia Lui is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and is currently in the process of applying for registration as a Psychologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Holding a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, a Master’s in Counselling and Comparative Asian Studies, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology, Octavia brings extensive academic and clinical experience from Canada, the U.S., and Hong Kong - cultivating a multicultural perspective that enhances culturally sensitive, inclusive, and holistic care.

Octavia supports individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, burnout, chronic pain, relationship challenges, emotional regulation, and life transitions. Her work with high-pressure professionals (e.g., investment banking, corporate sectors) has given her specialized insight into chronic stress, workplace dynamics, and performance-related concerns.

During her practicum, pre-doctoral internship, and post-doctoral residency, she provided psychological services at St. Paul’s Hospital and Mount St. Joseph Hospital, working alongside healthcare teams in fast-paced, high-intensity environments. Beyond hospital settings, she has collaborated with community organizations (e.g., WorkSafeBC, WorkBC, Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House, Avalon Recovery Society) and post-secondary institutions (e.g., Columbia College, LaSalle College), supporting clients and students in managing academic stress, navigating identity development, and working through life challenges such as personal difficulties, setbacks, and major transitions. She uses an integrative approach primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), while drawing from Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness practices as appropriate. Her goal is to create a safe, collaborative space that supports each client’s unique path toward resilience, self-awareness, and sustainable growth.

Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, Octavia offers therapy in all three languages. Outside of work, she finds balance through Qigong, yoga, gym workouts, and culinary exploration, and holds a personal interest in art, design, and emerging AI technologies.
